Step 2: Collection

Go to hire company with your booking reference. Check items against your order, note any damage. Load van carefully - furniture hire stuff isn't always in perfect nick.

Step 3: Delivery and Setup

Bring to your venue at agreed time. Unload. If you've paid for setup help, I'll unfold and arrange according to your plan. Otherwise just drop off and you sort placement.

Step 4: Collection and Return

After event, come back to collect. Load up (hopefully you've stacked it ready). Return to hire company within their deadline. Get sign-off that everything's back and in same condition.

📅 Book early: Friday before events and Monday returns are busy times for hire companies. Book me and the furniture hire early.

Damage deposits: Some hire companies hold a deposit until items are returned in good condition. I'll make sure everything's checked properly at both ends so you get your deposit back.

Access: Let me know about access at your venue. Tight gateways, flights of stairs, muddy fields - all affect timing. If I need to park 100m away and carry tables across a field, that takes longer.

Your responsibility: I transport and can help setup, but you're responsible for the hire agreement and any damage during the event. I note condition when collecting and returning, but what happens at your event is on you.

Exeter venues: I know most local venues and their access. Village halls, hotels, marquees in gardens - all doable. Just give me the full address and any access notes.

Weather: If your event's in a field and it's been raining, allow extra time. Getting a van stuck helps nobody.

Do you just collect, or can you help set up too?

Both. I can just collect and drop off, or I can help unload and set up at your venue. Setting up costs the same hourly rate - it's all just time. Most people want help at least unloading heavy tables.

What if the hire company is far away?

I charge from leaving my base to getting back, so longer journeys cost more. For local Exeter hire companies it's usually quick. If you're collecting from Taunton or Plymouth, factor in the travel time.

Can you return the furniture after the event?

Yes - that's often part of the job. Collect from hire company Friday, deliver to you, collect from you Sunday, return to hire company Monday. I can quote for the whole cycle or just bits of it.

What if something's damaged?
