Sam Hembury, founder
Sam started Hembury Contracting in Exeter because getting hold of a tradesperson for a small job was harder than it needed to be. Over a decade on the tools across carpentry, plumbing, general repairs and property maintenance went into working out what a good visit looks like.
These days he runs the business rather than turning up to every job. The work is done by our handymen, and for the things that want a specialist we hand you to firms we actually use ourselves rather than pretending we do everything.
What has not changed is the way a job gets done: straight advice, including when a job does not need doing, a fair rate you can see before you book, and the place left tidy.
Who actually turns up
Your booking is with our own small team, not a faceless pool. We put the right person on the job for the kind of work it is, and they turn up at the time you booked.
And who we hand you to
We do not pretend to be specialists in everything. Exterior cleaning, roof and render work goes to Moore & Franks. Drone surveys and thermal imaging go to Exeter Drone Surveys. Carpet and fabric cleaning goes to a specialist firm. We only pass your details on once you have told us we can.
