Running to the builders merchant is one of those jobs that always takes longer than you expect. You drive there, park, find what you need (or discover they don't have it), queue to pay, load the car, drive back, unload. Before you know it, you've lost half a day.
We do this regularly for our own jobs, so we know the merchants, where things are, and who to ask. We can collect your pre-ordered items, or if you give us a list, we'll pick up what you need. It's particularly helpful when you need bulky items (timber, sheets of plywood, bags of cement) that won't fit in a normal car.

We're not a full-scale delivery service - we can't collect pallets of bricks or huge bulk orders. But for normal DIY quantities (a few sheets of plasterboard, several lengths of timber, a radiator, bags of aggregate) we're perfect.

What to Expect
Before collection: You'll either order materials for collection online, or send us a list of what you need with merchant preference. We'll confirm the collection time and agree on delivery to your property.
During collection: We'll go to the merchant, collect your order (or purchase from your list), check everything is correct and undamaged, and load it carefully into our van.
After delivery: We'll deliver materials to your property and unload them wherever you need - garage, driveway, rear garden. We'll give you the receipt and any leftover change if we purchased on your behalf.

Order for collection online: Most merchants let you order online and collect in-store. This is much faster than browsing in-store and ensures items are available.
Be specific about quantities: "Some timber" isn't helpful. "Four 2.4m lengths of 50x100mm CLS timber" is perfect. The more specific you are, the less chance of mistakes.
Consider timing: Monday mornings at merchants are manic with trade customers. Wednesday afternoons are usually quieter. If timing isn't critical, we can choose when to collect for fastest service.
Check the order: When materials arrive, check against your order immediately. Merchants occasionally miss items or supply the wrong specification.
When to use us: When you need bulky materials, don't have time, or can't be bothered with the hassle. Also brilliant when you realize at 2pm that you need something for an evening DIY session.

For large or heavy orders, think about where materials will be delivered. We can move them around a bit, but if you need a full sheet of plywood carried up three flights of stairs, that's getting into additional time.
We can often combine materials collection with other small jobs. If you're booking us for a repair and need materials first, we can collect them on the way to you.
Some trade merchants require accounts to purchase. If you're specifying a trade-only supplier, you'll need to arrange account access or pre-payment.
