Space brackets properly: Brackets should support the board at roughly quarter and three-quarter points along its length. Too close together and the ends sag; too far apart and you don't support the middle properly.
Padding protects: Line rack arms with foam or rubber to prevent scratching board surfaces. Old pipe insulation works perfectly.

Rigid paddleboards should be stored on their edge (rail down) or flat, not standing on the tail. Standing storage can damage the tail over time.
SUP paddles also need storage - we can often install paddle hooks as part of the same visit. They're light and just need simple wall hooks.
For multiple boards, think about access. The board you use most should be easiest to reach. Don't store your favorite board behind three others.
Garage door clearance matters if installing ceiling storage. Make sure boards won't interfere with the garage door when it's open.
Some people want their boards displayed in the house (they look good). This is fine but requires more careful installation - you're mounting to internal walls which might be plasterboard, and the racks need to look neat rather than purely functional.
Kayak storage is similar to paddleboard storage but kayaks are heavier and shaped differently. Mention if you're storing both so we bring appropriate brackets.
