Professional curtain hanging services in Exeter and surrounding areas. Local, reliable handyman - no job too small.

Price Guide

Typical Duration

0.5-1 hrs

Location

Exeter, Devon

Curtains hung on existing poles or tracks. Eyelet, pencil pleat, tab top - all types fitted evenly and draped properly.

Room Finished Properly

Poles fitted but curtains still in the bag? Don't put it off - I can hang curtains for your whole house in an hour or two. No more balanced on a wobbly ladder threading rings one-handed.

💡 Pro tip: Hanging curtains yourself seems easy until you're doing it. Awkward height, fiddly rings or hooks, trying to get both sides even. Having someone do it properly takes 20 minutes and looks better.

What to Expect

Step 1: Check Setup

Make sure poles/tracks are ready, curtains are the right size, and I've got everything needed (rings, hooks, clips depending on curtain style).

Step 2: Hang & Adjust

Thread curtains onto poles or attach to tracks, make sure both sides hang evenly, check they open and close smoothly.

Step 3: Final Drape

Arrange the folds so curtains drape nicely when closed. Makes a big difference to how finished they look.

🔧 DIY Tips

Want to hang your own curtains? Here's how:

🔧 What you'll need

  • Step ladder
  • Someone to help (really useful)
  • Curtain rings/hooks (if not supplied)
  • Patience

📐 Hanging different curtain types

  • Eyelet: Thread pole through metal eyelets - simple once you've got the technique
  • Pencil pleat: Attach curtain hooks through header tape, hang on pole rings or track
  • Tab top: Thread fabric tabs over pole
  • Clip top: Clip curtain directly to pole rings

⚠️ Common DIY mistakes

  • Uneven sides (measuring matters!)
  • Too many or too few rings/hooks (affects drape)
  • Not checking curtains open and close smoothly before finishing
  • Trying to do it alone (much easier with two people)

💡 Pro trick: For pencil pleat curtains, gather the header tape before hanging so you know how wide they'll be when hung. Makes it much easier to get both sides even.

Rather leave it to a pro? No problem - that's what I'm here for. Give me a call.

Good to Know

🎨 Just moved in? Whole house needs curtains hanging? Book one visit and I'll work through room by room - much quicker than you doing it over multiple weekends.

If you need poles fitted too, that's a different service (curtain pole fitting). More efficient to do both in one visit - fit all poles, then hang all curtains. Whole house sorted in a few hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's involved in hanging curtains?

If you've already got poles or tracks fitted, I hang the curtains on them - thread rings, clip on, attach hooks, whatever the curtain type needs. Then make sure they hang evenly, drape properly, and look symmetrical. Usually takes 15-20 minutes per window once you know what you're doing.

Can you fit the pole AND hang the curtains?

Yes - that's curtain pole fitting (separate service). If you need both done, we do the pole first (drilling, mounting, fixing), then hang the curtains on it. More efficient to do both in one visit.

Do I need to provide the curtains and poles?

Yes - buy curtains and poles/tracks in the sizes you need, then I'll fit and hang everything properly. If you're not sure what size to get, send me window measurements and I can advise.

How many rooms can you do in one visit?

As many as you need! If it's just hanging curtains (poles already fitted), I can do 5-6 windows in an hour easily. Much quicker than doing it yourself and climbing up and down a ladder repeatedly.

What if the curtains are too long?

I can hang them to the right length, but if they're dramatically too long they'll need hemming (that's alteration work, not something I do). Ideally curtains should just touch or hover just above the floor.
