17 services available across Exeter and surrounding areas.

Paving takes a beating from weather, use, and time. Slabs become loose and wobbly, pointing washes out, cracks appear, and surfaces become slippery with algae. We repair and maintain paved areas - resetting loose slabs, replacing damaged ones, repointing gaps, and cleaning surfaces. We're not landscapers doing new installations, but we'll keep your existing paving safe and looking good.
Why Choose Hembury Contracting?
Sam fixes paving properly, not just cosmetically. He'll investigate why slabs are moving, ensure proper bedding, and repoint with appropriate materials for lasting repairs.

Common Questions About Paving
Why do the joints in my block paving keep emptying?
Rain washes it out, the wind blows it away, and over time blocks settle. If you've got weeds or wobbly blocks, it's because the sand's gone - it's doing nothing anymore. Re-sanding locks everything back together and stops the weeds getting a foothold.
How long does typical driveway kerbing take?
Single driveway (one or both edges, maybe 10-15 metres total) usually takes 4-6 hours including excavation, concreting, and cleanup. Longer runs or complex curves take more time. I'll quote based on your specific layout and ground conditions.
Do I need to supply the sealant?
No - I'll bring quality sealant suitable for your paving type and use. Gloss or matt finish is your choice. Using cheap sealant is a false economy - it looks milky, peels off, and you're doing it again in a year. I use stuff that actually lasts.
Do I need to buy the bricks myself?
Either way works. If you know what you want, buy them yourself. If not, tell me how many linear metres you need and I'll work out quantities and pick them up. You'll need about 5 bricks per metre for a single row on edge.
Can you match my existing gravel colour and size?
I'll try - bring a sample in a sandwich bag to the builder's merchant and we'll find the closest match. Gravel batches vary naturally, so exact matches are tough, but we can get close. If your existing is really faded, fresh stuff will look brighter initially but weathers in within months.
What causes paths to sink and become wobbly?
Usually it's the base underneath that's failed - either not enough hardcore when it was laid, or water's washed the sand away. Tree roots don't help either. Once the support goes, slabs rock and sink. Good news is it's usually fixable without replacing the whole path.
