17 services available across Exeter and surrounding areas.

Paving takes a beating from weather, use, and time. Slabs become loose and wobbly, pointing washes out, cracks appear, and surfaces become slippery with algae. We repair and maintain paved areas - resetting loose slabs, replacing damaged ones, repointing gaps, and cleaning surfaces. We're not landscapers doing new installations, but we'll keep your existing paving safe and looking good.
Why Choose Hembury Contracting?

Common Questions About Paving
How long before I can walk on a new path?
You can walk carefully on slabs within 24 hours, but give it 2-3 days before heavy use. If I'm laying block paving, it needs the edges secured first. I'll let you know exactly when it's fully ready.
How long does sealer last?
Good quality sealer lasts 3-5 years depending on foot traffic and weather exposure. You'll know it's wearing off when water stops beading and stains start soaking in again. Some people reseal every few years, others wait until it's obviously needed.
How much does path repair cost?
For typical repairs - a few wobbly slabs or a small sunken section - you're looking at £110-210 depending on how many slabs need lifting and how much base work is needed. If it's extensive damage across the whole path, I'll be honest and tell you if replacement makes more sense.
How much does patio repointing cost?
It's quoted per job because patio size and joint condition vary massively. As a very rough guide, figure £20-30 per square metre for a straightforward repoint. Small patios (10-15m²) might be £200-400. I'll give you an exact quote once I've seen the job and measured up.
Can you install edging to an existing driveway?
Yes - that's often what's needed when block paving starts spreading or gravel keeps migrating. I dig alongside the existing surface, set proper edging in concrete, then backfill. Immediately stabilises everything and stops further movement.
Can you level my gravel drive without adding more gravel?
Often yes - drives typically have plenty of gravel, it's just all pushed to the edges or in heaps. I'll rake it back to the centre, deal with any soft spots in the base, then redistribute and compact everything evenly. If you genuinely need more gravel I'll tell you, but it's not always necessary.
