Step 1: Book & Confirm
You tell me which supplier and what size tree (or I can advise on good local options). We agree collection date and delivery time.
Step 2: Collection
I pick up the tree from the supplier. If you've pre-ordered, I collect yours. If not, I choose a good one based on what you've asked for.
Step 3: Delivery & Position
Turn up at yours, carry the tree in with floor protection, stand it roughly where you want it. Quick shake outside first to drop loose needles.

Still want to collect it yourself? Here's how to not make a mess of it:

- Strong rope or ratchet straps
- Old blankets or tarp (to protect car)
- Dust sheets for inside the house
- Second person to help carry
- Scissors (for cutting netting if needed)
🎄 Choosing your tree
- 6-7ft is standard for average ceiling height
- Check the base is straight (makes standing it easier)
- Look for even branch coverage all round
- Fresh trees have green needles that don't fall off when touched
- Nordmann Fir drops fewer needles than Norway Spruce
🚗 Getting it home
- Wrap in netting before loading (most suppliers do this)
- Base goes forward (towards front of car)
- Tie down REALLY well - you don't want it sliding off
- Use red flag if it sticks out more than a metre
- Drive carefully (wind catches it on dual carriageways)

- Underestimating how big "7 foot" actually is
- Not securing it properly (dangerous and illegal)
- Bringing it straight into a warm house (needles drop faster)
- Dragging it through the house (trail of needles everywhere)

💡 Pro trick: Leave the tree in the garage or outside for 24 hours before bringing in. Lets it acclimatise and drop the really loose needles outside. Makes much less mess.

Local suppliers I know: There's good tree sellers at most garden centres around Exeter, plus seasonal lots that pop up in December. I can recommend depending on your budget and tree preferences.
Pot-grown vs cut trees: Cut trees are lighter and cheaper but need watering daily. Pot-grown can be replanted but are heavier to move. Let me know which you're getting.
Narrow hallways in old houses: Exeter's Victorian terraces often have tight doorways and halls. I've done hundreds - we can usually get trees through with a bit of angle and patience. Worst case, trim bottom branches slightly (tree won't miss them).

I can collect from wherever you've ordered it - garden centre, farm, Christmas tree lot. Or if you've not ordered yet, I know the good local suppliers and can grab one for you. Just let me know size and budget.
Will it fit through my door?
Most standard 6-7ft trees fit fine. If you've got narrow hallways or a massive 9-footer, let me know when booking so I can plan. Worst case we might need to trim the bottom branches slightly to get it through.
Can you help position it in the room?
Yes - I'll carry it in and stand it roughly where you want it. If you've got a stand ready I can pop it in there too. Makes the whole thing easier.
What about the mess and needles?
Trees shed a few needles during transport - that's normal. I'll bring a dust sheet to protect your floors while we're moving it. Give it a good shake outside first to get the loose ones off.
How much notice do you need?
December gets busy so book early if you can. Week or two notice is ideal but I'll always try to help if you're stuck. Some suppliers sell out of the good trees by mid-December.
