About These Terms
These terms and conditions apply to all handyman and property maintenance services provided by Hembury Contracting. By booking our services, you agree to these terms.
Services Provided
Hembury Contracting provides general handyman and property maintenance services including (but not limited to) assembly work, carpentry, minor plumbing, mounting, garden work, and elderly assistance services.
We are not registered electricians or gas engineers. We do not undertake work that requires Part P certification or Gas Safe registration.
Quotes and Pricing
- All quotes are estimates based on the information provided. Final pricing may vary if the scope of work differs from what was described.
- Our minimum charge is £60, which includes the first hour of work and travel within our service area.
- Additional time is charged at £50 per hour (or £25 per half hour).
- Materials are charged at cost price, or you may supply your own.
- We will always discuss any changes to the quoted price before proceeding with additional work.
Booking and Cancellation
- Bookings are confirmed once we agree on a date and time for the work.
- Please give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
- Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may incur a cancellation fee.
- We reserve the right to reschedule if circumstances require, though we will always try to give as much notice as possible.
Payment
- Payment is due upon completion of work.
- For larger jobs, we may request a deposit or staged payments.
- We accept bank transfer, cash, and card payments.
- Invoices for account customers are payable within 14 days.
Access to Property
You are responsible for ensuring we have safe and reasonable access to the work area. Please clear the area where possible and secure any pets that might obstruct work.
Our Responsibilities
- We will carry out all work to a professional standard with reasonable care and skill.
- We hold public liability insurance to cover accidental damage during our work.
- We will leave the work area clean and tidy, removing any waste generated by the job.
- If you're not satisfied with the work, please let us know immediately and we will put it right.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide accurate information about the work required.
- Ensure you have any necessary permissions (e.g., landlord consent, planning permission) before work begins.
- Make the property accessible at the agreed time.
- Inform us of any known hazards (e.g., asbestos, unsafe structures).
Limitations of Liability
We are not liable for pre-existing defects, damage caused by faulty materials you've supplied, or issues arising from work that was outside the agreed scope.
Our liability is limited to the cost of the work carried out. We are not responsible for any consequential losses.

If you're unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us as soon as possible. We take all complaints seriously and will work with you to find a fair resolution.
