Get Your Garage Back

You know that garage that started as "temporary storage" and is now an archaeological dig of your past? Bikes from three house moves ago, paint tins from 2003, mystery boxes you're scared to open?

Time to reclaim that space.

💡 Pro tip: Once it's clear, you'll wonder why you put up with the chaos for so long. Suddenly you can actually park in there, find things, use it properly.

What's Involved

This isn't just shifting boxes around - it's proper clearance:

✅ Full Service❌ Half-Arsed Job
Everything sorted and removedStuff just moved to one side
Swept and cleaned afterLeft dirty and dusty
Proper tip disposalFly-tipped somewhere
You keep what you actually wantEverything chucked blindly

The process: We go through what's there, you decide what stays and goes, I load up and remove it all, sweep the space clean.

Pricing Guide

This is day-rate work because every garage is different:

Job SizeTime NeededYou'll Pay
Light clear (partial clearance)2-3 hrs£110-£160
Average garage (one van load)Half day£210-£260
Packed garage (multiple loads)Full day£400-£500

Plus tip fees (usually £20-£60 depending on weight). Based on £60 minimum (first hour) + £50/hr after.

Why quote-only? I need to see it first. One person's "bit of clutter" is another's three-van-loads of ancient furniture.

What Happens To Your Stuff

🔧 Items in good condition:

  • Charity shops will take furniture, working tools, bikes, etc.
  • I can drop them off if you want
  • Or you keep them if you change your mind

🗑️ Actual rubbish:

  • Loaded in my van
  • Multiple tip runs if needed
  • Properly disposed at recycling centre

⚠️ Can't handle:

  • Hazardous waste (chemicals, asbestos, contaminated materials)
  • Refrigerators/freezers (need specialist disposal)
  • Large amounts of soil/rubble (different type of waste)

Perfect If You're...

Moving house - need the garage empty

Had enough of the mess - can't face doing it yourself

🔧 DIY Tips

Want to tackle it yourself? Here's how to make it less painful:

🔧 You'll need

  • Sturdy bags and boxes
  • Van or estate car (or mate with one)
  • Gloves and dust mask
  • Someone to help (seriously, don't solo this)
  • Half a day free minimum

📐 The process

  1. Start with the obvious junk - broken stuff, actual rubbish
  2. Then tackle the "maybe" pile - be honest, have you used it in 5 years?
  3. Keep essential tools and equipment - but only what you actually use
  4. Charity shop run - get that done same day before you change your mind
  5. Tip run - ditto, get it gone

⚠️ Common mistakes

  • Starting without a van booked (then stuff just sits outside)
  • Creating a "maybe" pile and never deciding (be ruthless)
  • Trying to sell everything (takes forever, usually not worth it)
  • Keeping stuff "just in case" (it'll just fill up again)

💡 Pro trick: Take a photo when it's empty. Next time you're tempted to dump stuff in there, look at the photo and remember how good it felt to have space.

Rather leave it to a pro? No problem - that's what I'm here for. Give me a call.

Good to Know

🔧 Combining with other work? Once it's clear, that's the perfect time to fit proper storage, paint the floor, fix the door - whatever you've been meaning to do. Much easier in an empty garage.

Tip fees: Devon recycling centres charge by weight for van loads. Usually £20-60 depending on how much we're taking. I'll tell you the cost after weighing.

Charity shops: Most will accept furniture, working tools, bikes, sports equipment. Not general tat though. If you want a tax receipt for donations, you'll need to drop it off yourself.

Time of year: Spring/summer is easier (better weather, tip is less chaotic). Winter garage clears are doable but cold and miserable.

Security after: Once it's empty, check your garage door lock actually works. Years of junk propping the door shut means you might not have actually locked it in ages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you literally clear everything out?

That's your call - you tell me what stays and what goes. Some people want a total clear-out, others want me to remove specific stuff while leaving tools and equipment. We'll sort through it together if you want, or you can mark things up beforehand.

Where does all the junk actually go?

Depends what it is. Reusable stuff I can drop at charity shops if you want. Actual rubbish goes to the tip. I've got a van so can do multiple trips if needed. Tip fees are extra though - they charge by weight these days.

How much does a garage clear out cost?

Depends on how much stuff and how long it takes. Half a day (4 hours) is around £210-£260. Full day for seriously packed garages can be £400-500 plus tip fees. I'll quote once I see what we're dealing with.

Can you help me decide what to keep?

Yeah, happy to give opinions. 'That's worth keeping' or 'mate, chuck it' kind of thing. But ultimately you decide - I'm not binning anything you want to keep, even if it looks like junk to me.

What if there's hazardous stuff in there?

Old paint, chemicals, car batteries, asbestos - anything dodgy needs proper disposal. I can't just chuck it in my van. We'd need to separate that stuff and you'd arrange specialist disposal. I can advise but won't handle hazardous waste.
