General moving house help for whatever you need - loading vans, heavy lifting, furniture assembly, practical tasks. Flexible hours, reliable service, one less thing to stress about on moving day.
Moving House Is Hard Work
Even if you're hiring a van and doing it yourself to save money, you still need reliable help. Your mate Dave said he'd help but he's "not feeling great" on the morning. Your brother's coming but he's useless with heavy lifting.
You need someone who'll actually show up and work hard for however long you need them.
💡 Pro tip: Most people underestimate how long moving takes. Book more time than you think you need - much less stressful than rushing or running out of help halfway through.

🔧 DIY Tips
Managing your own move? Here's what makes it easier:
🔧 Essential prep
- Book van early (they get busy weekends)
- More boxes than you think (always underestimate)
- Protect mattresses and sofas with covers
- Have tools ready for disassembly
📐 Smart packing
- Heavy items (books) in small boxes
- Light items (bedding) in big boxes
- Label everything clearly
- Pack a "first night" box of essentials
✂️ Van loading
- Heaviest items first, against the cab
- Fill all gaps (wasted space = wasted trips)
- Secure everything so it can't shift
- Keep walkway to rear doors
⚠️ Common mistakes
- Not enough people (it's miserable on your own)
- Wrong size van (too small = multiple trips)
- No parking sorted at either end
- Not protecting door frames and walls
- Lifting things that really need two people
💡 Pro trick: Do a car load of essentials the day before - kettle, mugs, tea, toilet paper, hand soap, phone chargers. When you arrive at the new house exhausted, you can at least make a cup of tea.
Rather leave it to a pro? No problem - that's what I'm here for. Give me a call.
Good to Know
🚐 Van driving: If you've never driven a van before, the first time on moving day is not ideal. I can drive if needed - just check your van hire allows additional drivers.
Both ends help: If you need help loading at the old house AND unloading at the new one, book time for both plus travel between. More efficient than two separate visits.
Furniture protection: Bring blankets or covers for sofas/mattresses. Vans are dirty and everything rubs together during transport.
Parking: Sort parking at both ends before moving day. Double-parked with hazards on while you rush is stressful and risks tickets.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in moving house help?
Whatever practical help you need - loading vans, carrying furniture, assembling/disassembling beds, shifting heavy items, basically an extra pair of hands to make your move easier. Tell me what you need and I'll help get it done.
How is this different from hiring a removal company?
Removal companies come with a team, huge van, and move your entire house. This is just extra help for people doing their own move - you've hired a van, you're doing most of it yourself, but you need reliable help. Much cheaper than full movers.
Can I book you for just a few hours?
Absolutely - book whatever time you think you'll need. Could be 2 hours to help load, 3 hours at the new end to unload and set up, whatever works. You're not paying for a full day unless you need a full day.
What if we run over time?
If we're getting close to your booked time and not quite done, I'll let you know. If you want to extend, it's just the same hourly rate continuing. No problem as long as I haven't got another job booked after.
Do you bring tools and equipment?
I bring basic tools for furniture assembly/disassembly. If you need specific equipment (trolleys, straps, etc.) let me know when booking and I can bring them or advise what you should hire.
