Window film application in Exeter

Window film DIY is way harder than it looks. But if you want to try:

🔧 What you'll need

• Window film (measure twice, order once)
• Spray bottle with soapy water solution
• Squeegee (proper window film one, not shower squeegee)
• Sharp craft knife and steel ruler
• Clean lint-free cloths
• Patience and steady hands

📐 Application process

1. Clean glass absolutely spotlessly (any dirt shows)
2. Measure and cut film slightly oversized
3. Spray glass liberally with soapy water
4. Peel backing from film (have helper for large pieces)
5. Apply film to wet glass
6. Squeegee from center outward (removes water and bubbles)
7. Trim edges carefully with sharp knife
8. Squeegee again to seal edges

⚠️ Common DIY mistakes

• Not cleaning glass properly (every speck shows)
• Using too little or too much water
• Trapping air bubbles (impossible to remove once dry)
• Cutting film too small (leaves gaps at edges)
• Using blunt knife (tears film instead of cutting)
• Trying to do large windows solo

💡 Pro trick: Work in shade, not direct sun. Heat makes film stick before you can position it properly. Morning application in a north-facing room is ideal.
