Windows
From hanging blinds to fixing window latches, we handle all your window-related needs.
20 services available across Exeter and surrounding areas.

Windows need maintenance. Hinges stiffen, latches break, seals fail, and locks jam. Add in curtain poles to hang, blinds to fit, and secondary glazing to install, and there's plenty to keep on top of. We handle all window-related tasks - repairs to the windows themselves and fitting everything that goes around them.
Why Choose Hembury Contracting?
Sam fixes windows properly and fits blinds level. He carries common window parts and can often repair on the spot rather than ordering parts and returning.

Common Questions About Windows
Will a threshold strip be a trip hazard?
Good ones shouldn't be. I fit low-profile strips (usually 15-20mm high) with ramp edges. Definitely consider it if you've got mobility issues though - we can use a compression seal instead, or a very low profile strip. There are wheelchair-friendly options that are barely noticeable.
Will new hinges make my old window work like new?
Pretty much yes, as long as the frame itself is sound. Worn hinges are usually what makes windows stiff, droopy, or hard to operate. New hinges, everything works smoothly again.
My window lock is broken - can you just fix it or does it need replacing?
Depends what's broken. Sometimes it's just a loose screw or adjustment needed (cheap fix). More often the mechanism is worn or broken and needs full replacement. I'll assess and tell you honestly - always better to fix than replace if possible, but locks are usually one or the other.
What's usually wrong with Velux windows?
Most issues are handles that have snapped, seals that have perished (causing leaks), or hinges that have worn out making them hard to open. All fixable without replacing the whole window.
Do draught excluders actually make a difference?
Absolutely. A draughty door or window can lose as much heat as leaving a small window open. Seal it properly and you'll feel the difference immediately - and see it in your heating bills.
Do window locks actually deter burglars?
Yes - most burglars go for easy targets. Visible window locks make them move on to next house. Also, your home insurance usually requires them on ground floor and accessible windows. Failed insurance claim because locks weren't working is worst case scenario.
