Paving takes a beating from weather, use, and time. Slabs become loose and wobbly, pointing washes out, cracks appear, and surfaces become slippery with algae. We repair and maintain paved areas - resetting loose slabs, replacing damaged ones, repointing gaps, and cleaning surfaces. We're not landscapers doing new installations, but we'll keep your existing paving safe and looking good.
Why Choose Hembury Contracting?

Common Questions About Paving
Will the repaired area look obvious?
Fresh blocks will look newer for a while - but they weather in. If your existing paving is really weathered, I can swap blocks around to blend it better. The main thing is it'll be level and stable, which matters more than a perfect colour match that nobody but you will notice.
How much does a new patio cost?
Patio laying is quoted per job because every garden is different. Rough guide: £80-120 per square metre for standard slabs with proper foundations. Indian sandstone or block paving might be more. I'll give you an exact quote once I've measured up and you've chosen materials.
How long before I can walk on a new path?
You can walk carefully on slabs within 24 hours, but give it 2-3 days before heavy use. If I'm laying block paving, it needs the edges secured first. I'll let you know exactly when it's fully ready.
Will replacing a slab disturb the ones around it?
Not if done carefully - which is how I work. I rake out the pointing first, then lever the slab out without touching adjacent ones. They stay put and undisturbed. It's only the broken one that comes out.
How long do driveway repairs take?
Impossible to say without seeing it - small block paving patch might be 2-3 hours, sorting a collapsed drainage issue could be a day or more. I'll assess, explain what's involved, and give you a realistic time estimate before starting anything.
How long before the kerbs are solid enough to use?
Concrete needs 24-48 hours to cure properly before taking weight. I'll backfill carefully so there's no obvious tripping hazard, but avoid driving right up to the kerb edge for a couple of days. After that it's rock-solid permanently.
