Fix wobbly slabs, cracked paving, and worn pointing. Keep your paths and patios safe and looking good.
17 services available across Exeter and surrounding areas.

Paving takes a beating from weather, use, and time. Slabs become loose and wobbly, pointing washes out, cracks appear, and surfaces become slippery with algae. We repair and maintain paved areas - resetting loose slabs, replacing damaged ones, repointing gaps, and cleaning surfaces. We're not landscapers doing new installations, but we'll keep your existing paving safe and looking good.
Why Choose Hembury Contracting?
Sam fixes paving properly, not just cosmetically. He'll investigate why slabs are moving, ensure proper bedding, and repoint with appropriate materials for lasting repairs.

Common Questions About Paving
Can you match my existing blocks if some are damaged?
I'll do my best - bring a sample to the builder's merchant to find the closest match. If they're old or discontinued, sometimes I can rob blocks from an inconspicuous area and replace those with near-matches instead. There's usually a solution that doesn't involve replacing the lot.
What does patio sealing actually do?
It puts a protective layer on your paving that repels water, oil, and stains. This stops stuff soaking in (red wine, BBQ grease, leaf stains), makes the surface easier to clean, and slows down moss growth. It also enhances the colour - particularly noticeable on Indian sandstone and natural stone.
Do you arrange gravel delivery or do I need to order it?
I can arrange it - I'll tell you what's needed, order from a local supplier, coordinate delivery, and be there when it arrives. Saves you the hassle of working out quantities and timing. You just pay the supplier directly for materials, me for labour.
Is it worth repairing or should I just replace the whole driveway?
Depends on the extent of damage and your budget. A localised sunken area? Definitely repair - it's a fraction of replacement cost. Whole drive breaking up? Might be time for a fresh start. I'll give you an honest assessment and options with rough costs so you can make an informed decision.
How long does a typical single driveway take?
Average single drive is usually 2-3 hours - rake out ruts, deal with soft spots, redistribute gravel, compact it all down. Badly rutted drives or those needing extra base work might take 3-4 hours. I'll give you a realistic estimate once I've seen it.
What causes driveways to crack or sink?
Usually the base underneath has failed - poor original compaction, drainage washing it away, tree roots, or sometimes a collapsed drain. Just filling cracks or topping up gravel is temporary - you need to fix what's causing it or it'll keep happening. I'll dig down, find the problem, and sort it properly.
