Fix wobbly slabs, cracked paving, and worn pointing. Keep your paths and patios safe and looking good.
17 services available across Exeter and surrounding areas.

Paving takes a beating from weather, use, and time. Slabs become loose and wobbly, pointing washes out, cracks appear, and surfaces become slippery with algae. We repair and maintain paved areas - resetting loose slabs, replacing damaged ones, repointing gaps, and cleaning surfaces. We're not landscapers doing new installations, but we'll keep your existing paving safe and looking good.
Why Choose Hembury Contracting?
Sam fixes paving properly, not just cosmetically. He'll investigate why slabs are moving, ensure proper bedding, and repoint with appropriate materials for lasting repairs.

Common Questions About Paving
Will they sink into my lawn over time?
Not if they're installed properly - which is what I do. Each stone gets a proper base (excavate turf, add hardcore, compact, then sand). Set flush with lawn level so mower goes straight over. DIY ones often just sit on grass and sink within months.
How long does typical driveway edging take?
Single driveway edge (one side, about 5-8 metres) usually takes 2-3 hours including digging, concreting, and cleanup. Both sides of a path, or longer runs with curves, takes 3-4 hours. I'll give you a specific estimate based on your measurements.
Do I need to do anything before you arrive?
Just make sure I can park nearby and access the area - I'll have bags of sand/gravel and possibly new blocks to carry. If there's anything on the paving that needs moving (plant pots, bins, car), shifting those beforehand speeds things up.
How long do driveway repairs take?
Impossible to say without seeing it - small block paving patch might be 2-3 hours, sorting a collapsed drainage issue could be a day or more. I'll assess, explain what's involved, and give you a realistic time estimate before starting anything.
Will the edging stop my gravel spreading onto the lawn?
Yes - that's exactly what it's for. The bricks create a solid barrier that contains gravel, bark, or slate. I set them at the right height so you can mow right up to them without the mower hitting the edge. Keeps everything tidy.
Do I need to buy the bricks myself?
Either way works. If you know what you want, buy them yourself. If not, tell me how many linear metres you need and I'll work out quantities and pick them up. You'll need about 5 bricks per metre for a single row on edge.
