How long does felt roof repair take?
Simple patch job might be 2 hours. Larger repairs or multiple patches take longer. Full re-felting a small garage/shed roof could be 4-5 hours depending on size.
What do soffit boards actually do?
They box in the underside of your roof overhang and provide essential ventilation to the roof space. Without proper soffits, you get condensation problems in the loft and birds nesting in your roof structure.
Do you need to remove the fascias to replace soffits?
Not usually - soffits typically fit behind fascias. But if your fascias are dodgy too, it makes sense to do both together while the access equipment is set up. More cost-effective than two separate jobs.
Can you just re-point ridge tiles or do they need re-bedding?
Depends how bad they are. If they're just slightly loose with sound bedding underneath, re-pointing might work. But if they're rocking or the mortar's gone, they need lifting off and re-bedding properly. I'll tell you which after looking.
Can you patch a felt roof or does the whole thing need replacing?
Depends on the damage and the roof's condition. Small splits or blisters I can patch effectively. If the felt's old and brittle all over, or there are multiple leaks, you're better off replacing the whole covering. I'll tell you honestly which makes sense.
Can you match my existing roof tiles?
Usually yes for standard concrete or clay tiles. Old or unusual tiles can be trickier - sometimes I need to source reclaimed ones. I'll let you know if matching is a problem and what the options are.
