Decking
Create the perfect outdoor entertaining area with professionally installed decking, built to withstand the Devon weather.
9 services available across Exeter and surrounding areas.
We're a general handyman service that turns its hand to things. We're not specialist installers.
We repair, adjust and extend decking, and we build simple ground-level decks. Anything raised or structural is a different job.
£60 an hour including VAT, two hour minimum. How booking works
Bookable by the hour
- Replacing boards, fixings and trims
- Steps, handrails and balustrade repairs
- Cleaning down and re-fixing loose sections
Take this to a specialist
- Raised decks that need structural design or building control
- Composite systems where the warranty requires an approved installer
Not sure which yours is? Describe the job and we will tell you
Decking extends your living space into the garden, but only if it's built right. Poor drainage leads to rot, inadequate framing causes bounce and flex, and cheap materials deteriorate quickly in Devon's wet climate. We build decking that lasts - with proper foundations, ventilation underneath, and quality materials. Whether you want a simple platform or a multi-level entertainment area with built-in seating, we'll make it happen.
Why Choose Hembury Contracting?
Sam builds decking to last. He'll ensure proper drainage, adequate ventilation, and sturdy construction. He's also honest about maintenance requirements - decking needs care, and he'll show you how to keep it looking great.

Common Questions About Decking
Do you supply balustrades?
We can supply or fit balustrades you've purchased. Many options available - we advise on quality and suitability.
How do I know if it's just repair or something bigger?
We check properly and give honest assessment. What looks like a simple repair sometimes reveals bigger issues - better to know.
What about the frame?
Composite boards on proper timber or aluminium frame. The frame is as important as the boards - we don't cut corners underneath.
What styles are available?
Timber spindles, glass panels, wire cables, metal railings - choice depends on look wanted and budget. We fit most types.
Do you check the frame underneath?
Yes - while boards are up, we check the frame. No point replacing boards over rotting joists.
What if the frame is damaged?
We'll tell you honestly. Sometimes what looks like a board problem is actually a frame problem. Better to know.
