Common Questions About Flooring
How long does grout take to dry?
Most floor grout is dry enough to walk on after 24 hours, but it takes 48-72 hours to fully cure. Don't get it wet during that time or you'll weaken it. If it's a bathroom or kitchen, you'll need to work around not using the room properly for a couple of days.
Can vinyl go over existing flooring?
Sometimes. If your old floor is flat, solid, and well-stuck down, vinyl can go straight over it. Loose tiles, lumpy lino, or carpet will need removing first. We'll check and advise.
How long before I can walk on it?
Most vinyl repairs can be walked on within a couple of hours, but we'll recommend waiting 24 hours for heavy furniture or rugs. Adhesive needs time to cure properly.
Do I need door trims with new flooring?
Yeah, you do. Door trims cover the expansion gap between your new floor and the doorframe. Without them, you've got an ugly gap showing, and the floor edge can get damaged. They finish the job properly.
Can you match grout colour for repairs?
We'll get as close as possible. If you know the original grout brand and colour, perfect. Otherwise, we'll match by eye or suggest regrouting the whole area for a uniform look if it's way off.
What's the difference between threshold types?
Flat bars work for floors at the same height. Ramp profiles cover height differences (like carpet to tile). Reducer strips taper down from one floor to another. We'll recommend the right one when we see the job.
