Common Questions About Fencing
Do you just replace the panel or check the posts too?
I check the posts as part of the job. No point fitting a new panel to a wobbly post. If posts need attention (reinforcing, replacing, re-setting), I'll let you know before starting. Sometimes the panel's fine but the posts are the real problem.
Can you match existing fencing style?
Usually yes. If you're extending an existing run, I'll match the wire gauge, mesh size, and post spacing. Bring a photo if you're not sure what you've got - helps me quote accurately and bring the right materials.
Do you supply the latch or should I buy one?
I carry common types in the van. If you want something specific (lockable, decorative, etc.), send me a photo and I'll grab it before coming out. Either way works - your choice.
What about posts that are just wobbly, not rotten?
Depends why they're wobbly. If they weren't set deep enough originally, I can reinforce with concrete spurs or metposts. If the wood's rotted at ground level, the post needs replacing. I'll dig down a bit to see what we're dealing with.
What if the gate posts are rotten too?
We'll check the posts when we remove the old gate. If they're dodgy, we'll let you know there and then. We can replace one or both posts as needed - it just adds time to the job. Better to sort it all at once than have a new gate on wobbly posts.
Is it better to repair or replace broken trellis?
Depends on the damage and age. A few broken slats can be repaired. If the whole panel's knackered, you're better replacing it - repairs end up costing more and looking patchy. We'll show you the options and let you decide. Sometimes matching old trellis is tricky, so replacement means they all look consistent.
